A USB connector alone does not guarantee a successful Palm Vein Scanner integration. Confirm power output, data permissions, operating system support, and the payment architecture before selecting the device.
Start with the host terminal
A USB port may provide power without providing integration.
Many EMV/PCI financial POS terminals already deployed by banks provide USB output below 1A. For security reasons, the same port may also be restricted to charging, with external data transmission disabled.
Measure USB power
Confirm voltage and maximum current on the actual POS model--not only the connector type.
Confirm data access
A charge-only port cannot exchange biometric requests, device states, or protected identity results.
Review host policy
Check bank, acquirer, firmware, and device-management restrictions for external peripherals.
Standalone USB models
Select by power capability.
Both devices support Android, Linux, and Windows POS hosts. The USB interface must permit data transmission in either configuration.
