Why Palm Vein Image Matters in Scalable Biometric Systems?

Why Palm Vein Image Matters in Scalable Biometric Systems

At X-Telcom, we’re often asked a seemingly simple question:

“Why do we need to save the palm vein image if we already have RGB+IR Palm Vein feature strings?”

The answer lies in our core belief: Biometric Palm Vein Reader systems should not only perform well today—they must scale securely and accurately for tomorrow.

Two Stages, One Seamless Experience

Our XT-PalmVein 01 USB Palm Vein Reader is engineered to support growth from pilot projects to nationwide rollouts. To support that scalability, our SDK architecture is built around two stages of recognition logic:

Stage 1: Compact Feature-Based Matching (≤10,000 Users)

For small-to-medium deployments, our free built-in algorithm uses RGB+IR-derived feature vectors. These are light, fast, and effective for real-time matching. You only need to save the vector; the original palm image is optional.

No extra licensing cost, we provide 10,000 license for free.
No re-registration as user volume grows.

Stage 2: Dual-Layer Matching with Palm Images (>10,000 Users)

As deployments exceed 10,000 users, accuracy at scale becomes critical. To address this, our SDK enables a second round of image-based feature extraction on the server side. This model uses the saved RGB+IR palm images to generate a new, high-dimension feature vector, which is then matched alongside the original compact vector.

This approach brings two major advantages:

  • 🔁 No need to re-enroll users as your system scales
  • 🎯 Two matching layers improve reliability and reduce collision risk, maintaining 99.9%+ accuracy even at the million-user level

Why Save the Palm Image?

Because our hardware and SDK are designed for four-point biometric registration:

  1. RGB feature vector
  2. IR feature vector
  3. RGB palm image
  4. IR Vein image

This multi-layered approach not only improves matching accuracy, but also provides redundancy and future compatibility for upcoming algorithm upgrades—without burdening the user.

A Smarter Biometric Architecture

Whether you’re building a kiosk-based access system or deploying across national-scale ID platforms, X-Telcom’s Palm Vein Technology SDK ensures:

  • 🔒 Minimal user friction
  • ⚙️ Maximum scalability
  • 🧠 Consistent security and matching accuracy

We don’t just match palms or IR veins—we build systems that match your ambition.
